Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Bulletin of Education and Research requires the authors to use the MS Word document format with 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced with 1-inch margins on all sides. The author's name, contact information, and institutional affiliation should appear on the title page only and not elsewhere.

An abstract of 150–250 words and three to five keywords should follow the title page. The title should be brief and clear, with no longer than 15 words.

All headings should be bold, in 12-point Times New Roman, with each word capitalized.

Manuscript Criteria for Publication

The fitness of a manuscript for publication in the BER is carefully reviewed based on each of the dimensions listed below.

  1. The study shows significance/relevance to educational areas.

  2. The abstract briefly addresses the objective(s) of the study, research question(s), nature of the study, sample and sampling procedure, and the instrument(s). The research methodology is well written, with the type of research used. Validity and reliability of the instrument/s, whether the instruments were developed, adapted, or adopted, are clearly discussed. The nomenclature of the instruments and key constructs of each instrument have been clearly defined. Major findings of the study based on the research questions and/or hypotheses have been clearly described with a detailed discussion section.

  3. The paper includes the related literature based on the latest research (preferably the last 5 years) that clearly shows the linkage between research in chronological order and identifies gaps in the literature that the researcher(s) want(s) to fill through their research. It includes theories and models related to the constructs, and the author successfully links theory to practice.

  4. The paper clearly addresses the conceptual and/or theoretical framework(s).

  5. Methods and procedures are clearly discussed. Research questions have been adequately addressed. Research design, population, sample, sampling, instrumentation, data collection, and data analysis have been clearly reported.

  6. Conclusions are drawn based on findings, consulting the APA Manual, 7th edition.

  7. Overall contribution to the field of education with detailed discussion and implications. The discussion part is supported with latest relevant studies' findings. A few pertinent recommendations are given for future policy-makers and practitioners based on findings.

  8. The manuscript is free of grammatical errors. Ideas are coherently organized. Overall presentation style is professional, and research-oriented terminologies are preferably used. The author is able to demonstrate academic writing.

Author Identification

The complete title of the article and the name of the author(s) should be typed only on the first sheet to ensure anonymity in the review process. Subsequent pages should have no author names. But it may carry a short title at the top. Information in text or references that would identify the author should be deleted from the manuscript (e.g., text citations of “my previous work”, especially when accompanied by a self-citation; a preponderance of the author’s own work in the reference list). These may be reinserted in the final draft.

The first-named author or the co-author who will be handling the correspondence with the editor, clearing galleys, should submit a complete address and telephone number; fax numbers and e-mail addresses are also helpful.

Article Writing

All submissions should conform to the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA Manual, 7th edition). Manuscripts that do not conform to the publication guidelines will be returned to the author.

We prefer manuscripts of 10–20 pages in length, including references, tables, figures, a title page, and an abstract (5000-7000 words). A sample of table and figure components is given below.

Tables

Number: The table number (e.g., Table 1) appears above the table in bold font

Title: The table title appears one double-spaced line below the table number initalics.

Headings: All tables should include column headings, including a heading for the leftmost column (stub heading)

Body: The table body includes all the rows and columns of a table. The body may be single-spaced, one and a half-spaced, or double-spaced

Note: A note can appear below the table to describe the contents of the table that cannot be understood from the table title or body alone (e.g., definitions of abbreviations, copyright attribution). Notes are double-spaced and flush left. Not all tables include table notes.

Figures

Number: The figure number (e.g., Figure 1) appears above the figure in bold font.

Title: The figure title appears one double-spaced line below the table number in italics.

Size: The size of the figure should be adjusted within the page margin and centered.

Note: Where a table can serve the purpose, avoid a figure.

Paper Processing and Publication Fee

The processing fee at the paper submission stage is PKR: 1000/-. If the paper is finally accepted, the principal author/contributor will have to pay PKR 3000/- as a paper publication fee.

A free copy will be provided to the principal/first author; co-author/s may get a published copy of the journal on payment as per the BER policy.

Note: There is no publication fee for international authors.
